"Shamakhi" football player: "I have a lot to learn from Aykhan Abbasov" - INTERVIEW

Interview of "Shamakhi" football player Rufat Abbasov to Sport24.az

- In the 30th round of the Misli Premier League, you defeated "Sumgayit" 2:1 away. What are your impressions?

- We knew that a difficult game was waiting for us. The opponent is a strong team, they have good players. It was a difficult match. We didn't start the meeting well, but later we recovered and managed to win by making a comeback.

- The team was losing in the first half. What instructions did the head coach give you at halftime?

- I don't think we played badly in the first half either. We had goal episodes. At halftime, the head coach pointed out our mistakes. He told us that we should believe in ourselves. Thank God, we scored the necessary goals and got 3 points.

- With this result, you took an important step towards staying in the Premier League. How do you assess your performance this season?

- Yes. This victory was very important. But it's not over yet. There are six more matches ahead. We must focus on them as much as possible and go out on the field and achieve the results we want.

- You are also a member of the U-21 national team. What were your feelings when Aykhan Abbasov was appointed head coach of the national team?

- Aykhan muellim played a big role in my transfer to "Shamakhi" at the beginning of the season, and I came to this team because of him. I was also happy about his appointment as the head coach of U-21. Working with Aykhan Abbasov both at the club and in the national team is a great experience. I learn a lot from Aykhan muellim. I think I still have a lot to learn.

- In your opinion, what will be the main goal of "Shamakhi" next season? Can your team compete for European cups in a year?

- I don't want to talk about it yet. As I said, we have six rounds ahead of us. We have focused all our attention on the match with "Kapaz" in the 31st round. The head coach also wants us to only think about the next game.
