Ukrainian club "Shakhtar" will not participate in the Champions League for the first time in the 21st century.
QOL.az reports that after Kyiv "Dynamo's" victory over "Inhulets" (4:0) in the 27th round of the Ukrainian Premier League, "Shakhtar" has lost its mathematical chances for the championship.
"Dynamo" has 67 points and leads the league with 3 rounds left to the end of the championship. "Shakhtar" is in 3rd place with 57 points.
Thus, the miners will not play in the Champions League for the first time since the 1999/2000 season.
Unlike previous seasons, only the winner of the Ukrainian Premier League will participate in the Champions League (from the second qualifying round).
It should be noted that "Oleksandriya" is currently in 2nd place in the Ukrainian Premier League with 60 points and one match in reserve.
