The Sergen Yalçın era has ended at "Beşiktaş."
According to Lent.az, referring to Turkish media, the experienced coach, who resigned after meeting with President Serdal Adalı, said: "I won cups in 2021 under difficult conditions. I refused 1.5 million dollars. Now they say I'm "chasing compensation." If they owe me money, I will leave. Other coaches can get paid, but we won't. We are "Beşiktaş fans," this wouldn't suit us."
Sergen Yalçın, whose future at "Beşiktaş" was being discussed after occupying fourth place in the Super League, met with President Serdal Adalı at the club's training center. The meeting, which took place especially after the "Konyaspor" game and increasing fan protests, resulted in his decision to leave.
Yalçın also expressed his dissatisfaction with the fans' reaction to him. The 53-year-old coach said: "What did I do to this club that I deserved this from the fans? They left me socially isolated."
The experienced coach said that the protests made the job difficult. Sergen Yalçın said: "We can no longer continue with the fear of protest in every game. In the "Trabzonspor" game, my captain ran to me after the goal, and those behind me were sobbing, saying, "Why are you running?" How can we work in this environment?"
