The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has issued a statement amid rumors about the national team's head coach, Papa Thiaw. Sport24.az reports that the local federation shared information about this on its official website.
Earlier, the media reported that the 45-year-old coach threatened to cancel his trip to the upcoming World Cup because he had been working without an official contract since February:
"The Senegalese Football Federation firmly denies the unfounded rumors that the national team coach has canceled his trip due to issues related to the renegotiation of his contract.
The national team's departure to the USA has only been postponed due to administrative and logistical reasons: delay in obtaining a license for a special flight and completion of the visa process for some staff.
Minor logistical delays have not affected the team spirit and morale of the players, coaching staff and the federation," the FSF statement said.
It should be noted that the Senegalese national team will face France, Norway and Iraq in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
