Real Madrid player Ferland Mendy will face a court appearance following a dog attack on a teenager
A Madrid court has scheduled legal proceedings regarding an attack on a minor by one of the dogs belonging to Real Madrid player Ferland Mendy.
Lent.az reports, citing foreign media, that the court session will be held on December 21. The prosecution is seeking a fine of 1,200 euros and a total compensation payment of 5,700 euros to the victims.
According to the prosecution, Mendy failed to ensure adequate control over his animals and did not check whether the gates were properly closed after entering his vehicle. The prosecution also claims that the dogs were not microchipped, lacked mandatory insurance, and had not been vaccinated against rabies.
According to the source, the incident occurred on January 4, 2023, when the player's four dogs escaped from his home. According to the prosecution, one of the dogs attacked a woman who was walking her dog. The dog had to be euthanized due to the injuries it sustained.
A 17-year-old boy assisted the woman after Mendy's dog bit her left leg. He received stitches, and his recovery took 30 days. The boy's dog also required surgery.
Mendy is 31 years old. In the summer of 2019, he transferred from Lyon in France to Real Madrid. The defender has not participated in matches this season due to an injury.
