Manchester City midfielder Rodri is no longer in Real Madrid's sights. Sport24.az reports, citing El Nacional, that the Royal Club has abandoned plans to transfer the 29-year-old Spaniard.
According to the source, the decision of the Madrid giant is based on several key factors. The main reasons include the player's high transfer fee, age, and frequent health problems. It is reported that the midfielder has not yet fully recovered and has not regained his peak form after a cruciate ligament rupture in his knee. He was injured last September, which affects his performance.
Instead of Rodri, Real Madrid has focused its attention on two other candidates, considering their transfers more promising. The Madrid representative is interested in Adam Wharton, who plays for Crystal Palace in England, and Kees Smith, who plays for AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands.
It should be noted that Rodri has appeared in eight matches for Manchester City this season.
