"The first stage of the training camp - adaptation - went well."
This was stated by Rashad Eyyubov, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of football players under 21 years old, in an interview with AZERTAC.
We present that interview.
- The Azerbaijan U-21 national team has completed its training camp in Baku. How do you assess the preparation process? Are you satisfied with the physical condition of the team and the players?
- The first stage of the training camp - adaptation - went well. It was important for us to bring the players' physical condition back to optimal level after a short break. I think we achieved it. We are already in Turkey and we have fully focused our attention on the upcoming games.
- As part of the preparation in Turkey, the national team will test its strength in friendly matches with Bahrain U-23 on June 6 and Kyrgyzstan U-21 on June 9. How would you characterize these opponents? What are your main expectations from these games?
- Yes, we have two games ahead against Kyrgyzstan U-21 and Bahrain U-23 teams. In general, they are unusual opponents for us. But I can say that both teams show interesting football. Difficult and useful games await us.
- What do you think about the newly recruited players to the team, especially Lorenzo Mezzotero and Mustafa Kamara? What qualities do you think they will bring to the national team?
- I am satisfied with Lorenzo, Mustafa, Yusif Mehtiyev, Raul Suleymanov and Elyas Bagci. They can bring new energy, new qualities to our team, and a different style to our game. Our goal is to make the right use of their strengths and direct these qualities to the benefit of the team.
- The fact that "Sumgayit" goalkeeper Khayal Farzullayev was not included in the U-21 national team this time, despite his recent performance, has caused some discussions. What can you say about the reasons for this decision?
- Khayal is a good goalkeeper. I am glad that he is gaining regular playing practice. The fact that he is not with us in this training camp does not mean that we do not hope for him in the future. At the same time, Fakhri, Sanan, and Agadadash are also not with us in this camp. We follow all the players and keep an eye on each of them.
- Recently, the participation of football players playing abroad and holding Azerbaijani passports in the U-21 national team has attracted attention. Is it expected that new names will be involved in the team in the upcoming training camps or official games?
- Yes, there are other players we are watching and contacting. But we decided that this is enough in terms of new names for the summer training camp. Our main goal now is to get to know the players we have invited better, evaluate them within the team, and help them in the adaptation process.
