"Although we experienced some difficulties at the beginning of the championship, we finished the season with a successful result. Our goal was to stay in the league. Finishing the championship in 5th place is considered a successful result for the club. Our team performed better after the winter break." These words were said by Rahid Amirguliyev, the captain of "Shahdag Gusar", in his statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced football player also commented on the departure of head coach Elnur Abdullayev:
"Our paths have parted with our head coach Elnur Abdullayev. This decision was unexpected for me. As you know, "Shahdag Gusar" has a new president. At the end of last year, Samir Khayirbayov was appointed as the head of the club. The decision to send the head coach belongs to Samir. We had achieved good results in the second round and thought that Elnur would stay in the team. In any case, we respect the decision. I can't say anything about the next season yet. At the beginning of this season, Elnur Abdullayev had other offers, but he stayed at the club because of me. We are currently waiting for the decisions of the club management."
It should be noted that "Shahdag Gusar" finished the 2025/2026 season in the First League in 5th place with 43 points.
