The president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Philippe Diallo, commented on the appointment of Zinedine Zidane as the new head coach of the national team.
İdman.Biz reports, citing "Eurosport France", that Philippe Diallo, while thanking former head coach Didier Deschamps, did not hide his joy at Zidane's appointment:
"We are experiencing an extraordinary moment this morning. For about 14 years, the federation has not faced such a situation. What makes this moment special is the person sitting next to me - Zinedine Zidane.
I would like to specially mention Didier Deschamps' activities. He led the French national team to the highest peaks for 14 years. He restored the team's reputation and achieved high results. Now that this era has come to an end, it is necessary to thank him.
When Deschamps announced in January 2025 that he would not continue his work, I faced a completely new situation. Our goal was to both continue the golden age of French football and make the right decision to start a new phase.
At that time, I stated that the federation would be ready when the time came. Now that time has come, and the federation is ready".
Note that 54-year-old Zinedine Zidane has signed a 4-year contract with the French national team today. Zidane replaces Didier Deschamps, who has been leading the team since 2012.
