US national team head coach Mauricio Pochettino said that the 3-2 victory over Senegal created a positive atmosphere around the team before the World Cup. Sport24.az reports that the Argentine specialist, speaking after the match, recalled that the recent defeats against Portugal and Belgium reduced the confidence of the fans:
"Although this victory is important for us, I think it is more important for the environment and the fans. It was very important for people to believe in the team again after the last two unsuccessful games".
The Argentine specialist also praised the character shown by his players on the field:
"Today we saw everyone's dedication. We have character, determination and great talent. The potential of our players is very high".
The US national team will face the German national team in the next test match. Although Pochettino acknowledged the strength of the opponent, he stated that the main problem is always within the team itself:
"In a week we will play against a great team like Germany. But the main thing is not the opponent. What is important is the right attitude, high motivation and team unity. We were able to demonstrate this today".
It should be noted that the USA, one of the hosts of the World Cup, will compete in Group D with Paraguay, Australia and Turkey in the tournament.
