The World Cup will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. Current world champions Argentina will play Austria, Algeria and Jordan in the group stage.
This tournament could be the sixth World Cup for the 38-year-old Inter Miami striker. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was previously included in the Portugal squad, could also achieve a similar feat. Messi is the 2022 World Cup champion, 2008 Olympic champion, two-time Copa America winner and eight-time Ballon d'Or winner.
