Legendary Uruguayan footballer Edinson Cavani has announced his retirement from his career.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the 38-year-old Cavani played for the Uruguayan team "Danubio", the Italian clubs "Palermo" and "Napoli", the French PSG, the English "Manchester United", the Spanish "Valencia" and the Argentinian club "Boca Juniors" during his years in football.
"Thank you, football! You made me grow, you expected a lot from me, you taught me to get up when I fell and to appreciate every step taken along the way. You gave me the opportunity to achieve dreams that seemed impossible in childhood and to meet incredible people both on and off the field.
None of this would be possible without my family, my friends, my teammates, my coaches and most importantly, the fans. The love shown by the fans in every country and every club will be something I carry with me throughout my life.
I leave with peace in my soul, knowing that I gave everything in every practice and every game. I treat with respect this profession that has given me so much, with my mistakes and right decisions", - Cavani wrote on his social media page.
Edinson Cavani has participated in 745 professional matches, scored 404 goals and made 79 assists. He has played 136 matches for the Uruguayan national team and scored 58 goals.
