Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has warned team midfielder Cole Palmer to be cautious about a possible move to Europe's giant clubs, pointing to the player's only two-year career at a high level.
Idman.Biz reports that Leboeuf said in an interview with Goal that Palmer's main problem would be playing time at a big club, and noted that the competition is especially tough at Real Madrid.
"If you're Cole Palmer, do you really want to go to Real Madrid? There's Bellingham there, there are other stars. Where are you going to play?" Leboeuf emphasized.
He noted that it would be more correct for the football player to develop in an environment where he can play regularly instead of staying on the substitute bench.
Palmer scored 25 goals in his debut season after moving from Manchester City to Chelsea in 2023 and rose to the England national team. However, the decrease in productivity in the last season and the injuries he faced this season once again brought to the agenda the importance of being patient in his development process.
Leboeuf also advised Palmer not to rush, recalling Florian Wirtz's unexpected success at Liverpool and his own decision to stay at Chelsea instead of Real Madrid in 1999.
