Barcelona coach Hansi Flick is also continuing the tradition of giving La Masia youngsters a chance in the new season.
Idman.Biz reports, citing sports.es, that this summer Flick has taken 17 academy youngsters to England's St George's Park base.
Among them are Iker Rodrigues, Yaako, Alvaro Cortes, Xavi Espart, Cofre Torrents, Jordi Pesker, Tommy Marques, Brayan Farinyas, Ibrahim Diarra, Orian Goren, Gilye Fernandes, Ebrima Tunkara, Hamza Abdelkarim, Oscar Gistau, Alex Gonzales, Shane Kluivert and Toni Fernandes.
In recent years, due to the club's financial difficulties and Flick's trust in young players, many of the academy's youngsters have become established in the first team.
In the summer of 2024, Marc Bernal and Marc Casado made a name for themselves by being promoted to the first team. A year later, Dro impressed Flick with his performances in friendly matches, but was transferred to PSG during the season.
In fact, this tradition began before Flick. In 2021, Gavi proved himself in the first team under Ronald Koeman's leadership. Later, Alejandro Balde, Fermin Lopez, Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi also left La Masia and became key players in Barcelona's first team.
