Ireland's Mayo Gaelic football team has become the country's champion after a 75-year hiatus.
Sport.Biz reports that in the final of the "All-Ireland Senior Football Championship" held at "Croke Park" stadium in Dublin, "Mayo" defeated "Kerry" with a score of 1-20 - 1-17. With this, the team won the Sam Maguire cup for the first time since 1951.
After their last championship in 1951, "Mayo" lost 11 of the 13 finals they played in and drew two. These failures over the years led to the creation of the legend of the "75-year curse" around the team.
In the final, "Kerry" was ahead by seven points at one point, but "Mayo" made a comeback and signed a historic victory.
