A Buenos Aires court reviewing the death case of legendary Argentine footballer Diego Maradona has invalidated the progress made in the process after a judge was removed from office.
"Report" reports that the "La Nacion" newspaper reported about this.
"After listening to all parties, the court announces its decision to invalidate the trial," said court chairman Maximiliano Savarino.
The publication clarified that the trial with the new judges will return to the starting point.
It should be noted that on Tuesday, Judge Xuleta Makintach was removed from presiding over the process. The prosecutor's office demanded this after information emerged that she allowed a film crew to participate in the meeting to make a documentary.
Hearings on Maradona's death began in March. In June 2022, the Prosecutor General's Office filed charges of intentional homicide against eight medical workers. They face eight to 25 years in prison.
The prosecutors' investigation focused on the events that occurred during the footballer's treatment at home, where he died on November 25, 2020. He had been there since November 11, 2020, after undergoing surgery on his head. According to the testimony the prosecutor's office received from people who came to Maradona's house, the place where he stayed did not meet the standards of care for a person after serious surgery.
Maradona died at the age of 61. The cause was acute heart failure.
