FIFA President Gianni Infantino has responded to criticism over plans to sell stake in the World Cup to private investors.
Sport.Biz reports that several football organizations and sports figures have condemned Infantino's decision.
"Firstly, this is not an obligation, but an opportunity. This is just an offer, which is part of a negotiation process", - quotes RMC Sport Infantino's words.
Earlier, it was reported that Infantino had prepared a plan for a sale that could personally earn him tens of millions of pounds and that negotiations were underway with individuals close to the administration of US President Donald Trump. Infantino has offered each FIFA member country $40 million in financial support, subject to the approval of the contract.
