FIFA President Gianni Infantino has responded to criticism regarding the high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that he noted that the prices are justified and reflect the realities of the American market, where the entertainment industry is one of the strongest in the world.
Infantino emphasized that in the USA, it is not even possible to watch a college game for less than $300, so market prices for a World Cup-scale tournament are entirely justified.
Furthermore, Infantino touched on the issue of ticket resale, which is officially permitted in the USA. He explained that setting prices too low could lead to scalpers selling tickets at higher prices. The FIFA President urged fans not to be tempted by high prices on the secondary market.
"If someone puts tickets for the final up for sale for $2 million, firstly, it doesn't mean that the tickets are actually worth $2 million, and secondly, it doesn't mean that anyone will buy them," ESPN quotes Infantino.
