Former Russian national team player, former Chelsea, CSKA, Dynamo, Zenit and Anji player Yuri Zhirkov has announced which team he will support at the 2026 World Cup. Sport24.az reports that Zhirkov said he likes the Iranian team:
"I will cheer for Iran at the World Cup. Sardar Azmoun plays there. As for the favorites, they remain the same - France, Spain and Portugal. But I think Spain will win".
Additionally, Iran is in group G along with Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand.
