Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team under 17 years old (born in 2009), evaluated the performance at the UEFA Development Tournament held in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. According to Sport24.az, the head coach first expressed his views on the last match against the Estonian national team (1:2):
"Our expectation in the game against Estonia was to win. However, in the UEFA Development Tournament, we had to give all 20 players in the squad a minimum of 90 minutes of opportunity. For this reason, we gave a chance to the kids who got less playing time in the first two matches. Overall, the advantage was on our side. Unfortunately, we conceded two goals due to individual mistakes. We couldn't capitalize on the countless opportunities we had. This stems from the lack of individual qualities and technical skills of the players. It takes time to eliminate the problems. But we don't have time to work on them in the national team. Our work in the national team is based purely on tactical moves. Players should try to eliminate this problem in their clubs".
Agil Nabiyev emphasized that U-17 is developing:
"This was our second gathering. We felt a big difference between the previous preparation and this gathering. There is development in the children. I believe that we can achieve better results with these players. The game with Georgia showed the potential of the team. It's just that the children suffer from a lack of international game experience. I hope everything will go for the better until the qualifying round matches".
It should be noted that our U-17 national team faced the corresponding age group teams of Moldova (0:1), Georgia (1:0) and Estonia (1:2) in the UEFA Development Tournament.
