English football club "Hull City", owned by Turkish businessman Acun Ilıcalı, has been promoted to the Premier League.
Idman.Biz reports that the team defeated "Middlesbrough" 1-0 in the Championship play-off final. The only goal in the match held at "Wembley" stadium was scored in the 90+5th minute. The winning goal was scored by Oli McBurnie.
After this result, "Hull City" has earned the right to play in the English Premier League for the first time since the 2016/2017 season. Acun Ilıcalı bought the club in 2022 for 30 million pounds (66 million AZN). During this period, he spent close to 70 million pounds (154 million AZN), and the team has returned to the country's strongest league under his leadership.
After being promoted to the Premier League, "Hull City" earned approximately 300 million pounds (660 million AZN) from broadcasting rights, advertising revenues, and league participation fees.
It should be noted that "Hull City" exceeded expectations during the season and qualified for the Premier League. The team finished the previous season in 21st place in the Championship.
