The hosts of Euro 2028, England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland, will compete in the qualifying stage to earn a spot in the tournament.
Idman.Biz reports, citing "GiveMeSport", that UEFA will not give all four teams a direct spot in the tournament. England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland will play in different groups in the qualifying stage, with only two hosts earning an automatic spot in the final stage.
Two additional spots will be reserved for hosts who fail to qualify. If fewer than two teams use this privilege, the remaining spots will be distributed among other nations based on the qualifying stage rankings.
This decision differs from the 2030 World Cup, where the main hosts, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, as well as Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, who will host the first matches to celebrate the 100th anniversary, have directly qualified for the final stage.
