The president of the French Football Federation (FFF), Philippe Diallo, has expressed his thoughts on FIFA President Gianni Infantino's plan to sell shares in the World Cup to private investors.
Sport.Biz reports that previously, Infantino had prepared a sales plan that could personally earn him tens of millions of pounds and had held talks with people close to the administration of US President Donald Trump. Several football organizations and sports figures have criticized the decision, and Infantino has offered $40 million in financial support to each of the FIFA member countries on the condition that they approve the contract.
"The FFF expresses its questions and deep concerns about the financial project announced by FIFA with the aim of selling World Cup shares to foreign investors.
A project of this magnitude and importance for the future of football requires a comprehensive and fully transparent exchange of information, consultation, and decision-making process with the participation of member federations and other stakeholders; currently, the conditions for such a decision do not exist.
Guided by the fundamental values of football, the FFF wants to fully participate in the upcoming discussions and will confidently formulate its comments and proposals after examining all elements and procedures of such a project", Diallo wrote on his social media page.
