The Turkish Super League has decided to abandon the mandatory use of the Arial font for numbers and names on players' jerseys.
Idman.biz reports that the changes will take effect from the 2026/27 season.
The standard font was established in the championship in 2012. Despite the development of many European leagues in this area, Turkish fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with the old design.
The initiator of the movement was a fan named Emre who started a campaign on social networks called "We don't need the Arial font." The idea was supported by journalists, designers and even politicians: MP Burak Akburak sent a request to parliament.
After discussions and public pressure, the Secretary General of the Turkish Football Federation, Abdulla Ayaz, confirmed that a decision had been made to change the font.
There is no information yet about which font will be used from the 2026/27 season.
