A tragedy occurred at a boxing tournament held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan.
İdman.biz reports that Japanese boxers Hiromasa Urakawa and Shigetoshi Kotari, who suffered fatal injuries in the same tournament, died a few days apart.
According to the World Boxing Organization (WBO), 28-year-old Urakawa was knocked out in the eighth round of a fight with Yoji Saito on August 2. He died a week later. A day earlier, 28-year-old Kotari died after being injured in the ring.
WBO has expressed its deepest condolences to the families and friends of the deceased boxers and to the Japanese boxing community.
It should be noted that Urakawa won 10 of the 14 fights he had during his career and lost 4. He faced Kotari in April. In the sixth round of the match, Urakawa defeated his opponent by knockout.
