Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery spoke about the game against Manchester City (2:1) in the 38th round of the Premier League and summed up the season for his team.
Idman.Biz reports that Aston Villa finished the English Championship in 4th place with 65 points.
"The last game was another experience for us: in the first half we were losing 1:0 and had no chances, but we won. The second half completely changed the game: we dominated, scored goals, created goal chances and eventually got the result. It's really great to finish the season as we deserve. There were ups and downs throughout the season, and I think the players and fans deserve to feel the way we do.
It's fantastic, absolutely fantastic. It was a fantastic end to the season, and the Premier League is the most important part of it. We finished fourth, succeeded in the Europa League, qualified for the Champions League and beat several teams that were likely to be higher than us in the table at the start of the season.
We are doing a fantastic job. It was simply wonderful to finish the match with victories over Liverpool at home last week and Manchester City away today. We also scored 65 points. I congratulate the players, the club, every employee. I congratulate the fans, they were also in the stadium. The Europa League is a long-awaited cup, and of course, this makes us very proud of the work we have done," said Emery.
