Former Real Madrid star Eden Hazard has made interesting confessions about his career at the Spanish giant. Sport24.az reports that the former Belgian footballer spoke about his move to the Madrid club, his failures there, and the number scandal in an interview with Canal Plus.
Hazard stated that he was worried about the media seeing him as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo:
"The media presented me as Ronaldo's successor. But my playing style was completely different. I wasn't a footballer who scored 60-70 goals a season. I've never even come close to such statistics in my career. I went there not to replace Ronaldo, but to play like Eden. Unfortunately, things didn't go the way I wanted."
The former winger admitted that injuries seriously affected his performance at the "royal club." He noted that the micro-fracture in his ankle, especially in the first season, completely overturned his subsequent performance.
Hazard also revealed an interesting secret about his jersey number at the Madrid club:
"I didn't actually want to wear the number 7 jersey. I wanted Luka Modrić's number 10 jersey. I thought he would say, 'Here, take it,' but he didn't give it to me."
