Napoli midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has spoken about Antonio Conte's decision to leave his post as head coach of the Italian club.
İdman.Biz reports that under Conte's leadership, Napoli played 91 games in all competitions. The team won 54, drew 19, and lost 18.
"Of course, it was difficult for me at the club because Conte's view of football is completely different from mine. To be honest, I never had the opportunity to play in my favorite position. In any case, I always tried to give my all for the team.
We played very defensively. If you try to win every game by one goal using a 4-5-1 formation, you are playing a certain type of football. At the beginning of the season, we went even deeper. Our central striker scored only 10 goals, so as you can imagine, the statistics won't be impressive."
Am I happy with Conte's departure? Yes. As I understand it, he wasn't forced to stay. There were promises about how we would play in the summer, but in the end, very little happened. I find that disappointing. Football should be fun, and unfortunately, I felt that this aspect was lacking. There's no point in winning everything; we have different views on football. Under Conte, I never got to play in my position."
My future? I have another year on my contract, but I want to talk about it. There was a lot of talk last year about how we would play and what we would do, but nothing came of it," De Bruyne told Football Italia.
Next season, the Neapolitans will participate in the UEFA Champions League and the Italian Super Cup.
