A rare collectible card of Cristiano Ronaldo, the forward for the Portuguese national team and Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr club, has been sold at auction for a record amount.
Idman.Biz, citing ESPN, reports that the exclusive "2018 Panini Kaboom" card from the player's time at Juventus was purchased for $1.35 million. This figure is the highest amount ever paid for a Ronaldo card.
The sale is recorded as the second most expensive transaction in football card history. The record in this area belongs to Lionel Messi's debut card, which sold for $1.5 million. In third place is a card of the legendary footballer Pelé, at $1.33 million.
It should be noted that Ronaldo's card also broke his previous record of $420,000, which was set just two days earlier on May 22, and this time it increased its value more than threefold. This green card, of which there is only one copy in the world, received the highest rating from the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA), PSA 10 (ideal condition).
