The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has agreed to a significantly lower amount than expected in China for the broadcasting rights to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that FIFA initially demanded $300 million for the broadcasting rights. However, the Chinese side continued negotiations for a long time, managing to lower the price.
As a result, the parties reached an agreement on a sum of $60 million, 27 days before the start of the World Cup.
Thus, China acquired the broadcasting rights for the 2026 World Cup five times cheaper than the amount initially requested by FIFA.
