Brentford have signed midfielder Mamadou Sangare from Lens.
According to the club's press service, the player was acquired from the French club for a record amount. The 24-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year deal with an option for an additional year.
"We have been interested in Mamadou for a long time. He was on our radar and we really wanted to sign him", - said Brentford manager Keith Andrews in a statement on the club's website.
Sangare was included in the French Ligue 1 Team of the Season for the 2025/2026 season. According to media reports, the transfer fee was 48 million euros. Previously, Brentford's most expensive signing was winger Dango Ouattara, who joined from Bournemouth last summer for 42.8 million euros.
