As a result of investigations into the large-scale betting scandal at the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), 149 referees have been disqualified from football activities. According to Sport24.az, after the issue was brought to the agenda of the Professional Football Disciplinary Board (PFDK), appropriate penalties were applied.
Although 67 of the penalized referees appealed the decision, the TFF Arbitration Board reviewed the appeals and upheld all penalties.
The other 82 referees did not appeal the PFDK decisions, which means that their penalties automatically remain in effect. In total, the careers of 149 referees have officially ended.
It should be noted that TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu had previously stated in his statement that 371 referees had betting accounts, 152 of whom were actively involved in betting. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that the investigation was expanded after the scandal. Investigations are still ongoing regarding 3 more referees.
