The possibility of Marcus Rashford, the forward of the English football team Manchester United, staying at Barcelona is now in question.
Idman.Biz reports, citing the Daily Mail, that the Catalan representative does not intend to activate the £26 million (AZN 58 million) buyout clause in the 28-year-old footballer's contract. Barcelona is only willing to pay £13 million (AZN 29 million) for Rashford.
This position has attracted attention after Barcelona signed Anthony Gordon from the English football team Newcastle United in a £69 million (AZN 155 million) deal.
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona and scored 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 games in all tournaments. The permanent transfer of the footballer, who also contributed to the Catalan club's La Liga title, was considered an expected step for some time.
However, Manchester United does not want to offer a discount on the agreed amount. According to reports, the deadline for Barcelona to make a final decision is June 15. The Catalan club's €30 million option to permanently transfer Rashford expires on that date.
The choices regarding the attack line within Barcelona have increased. The club has transferred Gordon and is also interested in Atletico Madrid football team striker Julian Alvarez. This may reduce Rashford's chances of staying at Camp Nou.
