"Perhaps the score in the first game influenced our performance in the return match."
İdman.biz reports with reference to Sport24.az that these words were said by "Qarabağ" player Bahlul Mustafazadeh in his statement to journalists.
The defender shared his thoughts on the return match of the second qualifying round of the Champions League, in which they defeated Ireland's "Shelbourne" club (1:0) in Baku: "We thought that the opponent would try to come back. They were also working for it. They had prepared well against us. Especially in the second match. Nevertheless, we achieved the result we wanted."
Mustafazadeh touched upon the possibility that the condition of the pitch at the arena could create difficulties for the team in the next stage: "You are right. The condition of the pitch is a little worse compared to previous times. But there is nothing we can do. We will play as it is."
The player also explained the reasons for the team's slightly sluggish performance on the field: "It is possible that the heat also has an effect. It was also our second match. We will get in better shape over time."
He recalled that they had secured the main stage in the Conference League at least: "Of course, that is not the goal. We want the main stage in the Champions League. We will fight for it."
It should be noted that "Qarabağ" will face the North Macedonian representative "Shkendija" in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
