The Azerbaijan national team set a new record by achieving its biggest victory in history.
"Report" informs that the team achieved this success in the match against Saint Lucia in the "FIFA Series – 2026" international tournament.
The team, led by Aykhan Abbasov, defeated its opponent with a score of 6:1.
Thus, the national team surpassed its previous record. The Azerbaijani national team's previous biggest victory was a 5:1 result against San Marino in 2017. That match coincided with the qualifying stage of the 2018 World Cup.
Another major victory was recorded over Liechtenstein. The national team defeated its opponent 4:0 in an official international game in 1999, and this result remained a record for a long time.
Thus, the 6:1 victory over Saint Lucia went down in history as the biggest victory margin in the history of the Azerbaijani national team.
