Athletic's defender Emerik Laporte has become a transfer target for Barcelona.
Sport.Biz reports, citing Diario AS, that the sports director of the Catalan club, Deku, is interested in the situation of the 32-year-old footballer. The leadership of Athletic has set the transfer price of Laporte at 80 million euros (156.5 million AZN).
The Basque club highly values the role of the experienced defender in the team and does not intend to make concessions in his sale. Laporte's contract with Athletic is valid until the summer of 2028.
Transfermarkt estimates the market value of the 32-year-old footballer at eight million euros (15.7 million AZN).
If the transfer takes place for 80 million euros, Laporte will become one of the most expensive players in history among those over 30 years old. The record in this age category belongs to Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward moved from Real to Juventus for 117 million euros (228.9 million AZN) at the age of 33.
