"Karabakh has not secured the League stage of the UEFA Champions League yet."
Idman.biz reports that this was stated by Aslan Karimov, the former captain of the Azerbaijani national team and "Karabakh", in his statement to "Report".
He commented on the match "Karabakh" played against "Ferencváros" (Hungary) in the Champions League play-off stage yesterday:
"Our representative gained a good advantage away. However, it cannot be said definitively that "Karabakh" has solved the issue. This is football, and anything can happen. Hopefully, the result in the match in Baku will be as we want."
The expert said that despite the away win, the Aghdam representative did not show a perfect game: "The result is excellent, but in my opinion, "Karabakh" did not play perfectly. That is, there were mistakes in the defense of both "Ferencváros" and "Karabakh". We conceded a goal in our goal because of one of those mistakes. The opponent was even lucky in several goal episodes. This means that nothing is over yet. But realistically, our chances of reaching the League stage are great."
Karimov said that the Hungarian club experienced stagnation in the second half: "In fact, "Ferencváros" was performing as I expected. They were pressing in the first half, and they were also launching fast attacks. In several episodes, they prevented "Karabakh" from attacking from defense. But in the second half, they seemed to stop. Of course, this was also due to fatigue. "Karabakh" made the most of this and was able to score the necessary goals."
It should be noted that "Karabakh" won the first match of the Champions League play-off stage against "Ferencváros" with a score of 3:1. The return match between the parties will be held on August 27 at the Tofig Bahramov Republican Stadium. The winning team will participate in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, and the losing team will participate in the main stage of the Europa League.
