Arsenal are in active talks with Newcastle to sign Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and are hopeful of agreeing a deal.
According to Idman.Biz, citing Ben Jacobs, the transfer fee could exceed 88 million euros.
Although Newcastle have categorically denied making an official offer, talks between the clubs are ongoing and a deal could be reached soon. Arsenal will first make a verbal offer, followed by an official bid.
The Gunners reportedly used the same process to negotiate the transfer of winger Christos Tzolis from Belgian club Brugge to London.
