"Araz-Nakhchivan" fought against rabid fans in Greece, in addition to "Aris".
This was stated by Eldaniz Yusubov, Executive Director of "Araz-Nakhchivan", in his statement to "Report".
He spoke about the away game against "Aris" (Greece) in the II qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, which ended in a draw, and about the opponent they will face in the next round:
"We had analyzed "Aris" in detail and prepared seriously for the game. The coaching staff prepared the team for the match at a high level. Everything went in our favor because the players also carried out the instructions. Everyone knows that Greek fans are rabid. They often tried to put pressure on our players. Thank God, we did not lose our game in any case. Our next opponent is already known. "Omonia" is not a weak opponent either. This team has faced Azerbaijani representatives. Our head coach Elmar Bakhshiyev has some information about this club. I believe that everything will be fine for us."
The club official said that the players were instructed not to be provoked before the match:
"It is true that this instruction is given to the players before every game. But the atmosphere was different in Greece. We told the players what to expect. Because in addition to competing with rival players, we were also fighting with fans. But our players are experienced, they passed the test with flying colors. They proved that they are able to fulfill the necessary tasks at any time."
He touched upon the incident that happened after the final whistle of the match:
"It is normal for minor incidents to occur in such principled games. I cannot tell you the specific details. But it is obvious that the opposing players did not accept the defeat. There were also minor taunts during the match, which originated from the opposing team. They could be understood, they had lost in Baku. There was no serious problem during the incident. Then things calmed down."
E.Yusubov emphasized that security measures were organized at a high level in Greece:
"After landing at the airport from the plane, the police began to deal with our security. The hotel where we stayed was under strict control. In a word, everything was organized at a high level. They helped us at every step."
It should be noted that "Araz-Nakhchivan" drew 2:2 with "Aris" on the road the other day and advanced to the next round. In the match held in Baku between the parties, the Azerbaijani representative won - 2:1.
