"Due to being in Slovakia for a few days regarding the UEFA Pro course, I joined the team yesterday morning. The children's perseverance and character in the game against Moldova are commendable. True, there were some gaps in defense. Nevertheless, the team eventually showed perseverance and managed to win".
Sport24.az reports that Agil Nabiyev, the head coach of the Azerbaijan national team consisting of under-16 football players, told the AFFA press service after the test match (3:2) held with the corresponding age group team of Moldova.
The specialist emphasized his confidence in his players: "We have a team with great potential, which gives hope for the future. We are achieving good results with both the U-16 and U-17 national teams. I hope that we will be able to continue this in the U-17 qualifying round matches. The development of the children is obvious. If there are many gatherings, we can achieve faster development and achieve great success".
The head coach also explained the reason why the team conceded a goal immediately after taking the lead twice: "Conceding a goal immediately after taking the lead was due to a lack of concentration. Lack of time hindered us a lot. Since some teams in the leagues did not qualify for the play-off stage, some of our players who played there had not played for a long time. This led to them not being fully physically prepared. But I trust my team. Great things can be achieved with this collective in the future".
Agil Nabiyev said that they will try to win the second test match against the Moldovan national team on June 21: "We only have one day between the two games. Immediately after yesterday's match, we started working on the children's recovery. During the match, we made as many substitutions as possible so that we could use some of the players in tomorrow's meeting. Our goal is to show a combative game and win again".
