The Indian Chess Federation has not yet made a final decision on the venue for the World Cup, which will also be attended by Azerbaijani grandmasters.
Idman.biz reports that the FIDE Council officially confirmed a few days ago that the World Cup will be held in India.
The tournament will be held from October 31 to November 27. But it is not yet known exactly in which region the competition will be organized.
According to "The Times of India", Ahmedabad and Goa are currently being discussed as the main candidates. However, the final decision on this choice will be made in the coming days.
It should be noted that the World Cup is part of the world chess championship cycle. The top three chess players here will qualify for the Candidates Tournament.
Rauf Mammadov, Read Samadov and Ahmad Ahmadzade, who will represent Azerbaijan, qualified for the competition based on qualifying competitions. Nijat Abbasov, as a semi-finalist of the last World Cup, has the right to participate in the tournament.
The world's leading rated chess players will also participate in the tournament. It is expected that Shahriyar Mammadyarov will be among them. For this reason, the exact number of chess players who will represent Azerbaijan will be known in the near future.
