The European Chess Club Cup, held among clubs in Rhodes, Greece, has come to an end. Sport24.az reports that the "Vugar Gashimov" club, representing Azerbaijan in the competition, finished the tournament in the top ten.
In the last seventh round, the team consisting of Rauf Mammadov, Aydin Suleymanli, Ahmad Ahmadzade, Reyid Samadov, Vugar Manafov, Khazar Babazade and Kazakhstani chess player Nogerbek Kazibek lost to the Czech "Novi Bor" club with a score of 1.5:4.5. At the end of the tournament, the "Vugar Gashimov" team scored 10 points and took 8th place.
Turkish clubs "Beyegan Pendik" and "Turkish Airlines", which included Azerbaijani chess players Shahriyar Mammadyarov and Khagan Ahmad, shared 4th and 9th places, respectively.
Among women, the Serbian team "Sirmium Sremska Mitrovitsa" (with Govhar Beydullayeva) took 2nd place, and the Romanian club "SuperChess" (with Ulviyya Fataliyeva) took 4th place.
It should be noted that the European Cup was held according to the Swiss system.
