Azerbaijani grandmaster Shakhriyar Mamedyarov has finished the prestigious "Grand Swiss" tournament held in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) with a victory.
According to İdman.biz, in the 11th round, Mamedyarov defeated Grigory Oparin (USA).
As a result, Shakhriyar scored seven points and took 13th place in the final tournament table. The chess player has four wins, six draws, and one loss.
Rauf Mammadov also won against Daniel Darthy (Belgium) at the tournament. But Mammadov's result was weaker - 6 points and 40th place.
In turn, Aydin Suleymanli scored five points and finished 77th, while Mahammad Muradli was content with four points and 111th place.
The winner of the tournament was Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri, who scored eight points. German Matthias Bluebaum took second place with 7.5 points, surpassing others in this score zone according to additional indicators. Both chess players qualified for the "Candidates Tournament."
