The second leg of the 1/4 finals of the Azerbaijan Chess Championship has been held. Sport24.az reports that the rating favorite of the competition, Shahriyar Mammadyarov, drew with Ahmad Ahmadzade in the return match.
Based on the final result of the two games, Sh. Mammadyarov won with a score of 1.5-0.5 and qualified for the semi-finals.
In the women's competition, Ulviyya Fataliyeva eliminated Sabina Ibrahimova from the tournament, winning both games. Thanks to a 2-0 victory, Ulviyya Fataliyeva has the opportunity to compete in the semi-finals. Gunay Mammadzade, the winner of last year's Azerbaijan Championship, lost both games to Ayan Allahverdiyeva and left the competition.
The matches Read Samadov-Rauf Mammadov, Eltaj Safarli-Muhammad Muradli, Nijat Abasov-Aydin Suleymanli did not determine a winner.
