Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov assessed his victory over Uzbek Rustam Kasimdzhanov in the "Battle of Champions" tournament held in Baku.
According to "Report", the grandmaster made a statement to journalists after the competition.
He said that he felt a bit tired after the tournament in Germany:
"I would like to thank the organizers for holding such a wonderful competition. I was a little tired after the competition in Germany. I am glad that I won."
R. Mammadov stated that the blitz games in the tournament were easier:
"Blitz was easier. I scored 11 and a half points in six games. Then I lost a little motivation and made a mistake. In the end, everything turned out well for me."
It should be noted that, based on the results of rapid and blitz games, Azerbaijani champion Rauf Mammadov defeated FIDE World Champion Rustam Kasimdzhanov (Uzbekistan) with a score of 12:10.
In another match, Gunay Mammadzade, the winner of the women's national championship, defeated world and European champion Antoaneta Stefanova (Bulgaria) with the same score.
