The presentation of the documentary film "A Life Dedicated to Chess" was held with the organization of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF).
Idman.Biz reports with reference to AZERTAC that Mahir Mammadov, the president of ACF, who spoke at the presentation ceremony dedicated to the life of Faig Hasanov, who was included in the "Guinness Book of Records" as the longest-serving chess referee, said that the author of the film, Azad Abbasov, had done a great job.
He said that Faig Hasanov was the person who guarded the Azerbaijani chess movement from disappearing in the early 90s of the last century. The head of the Federation said that the 85-year-old referee has made great efforts and played an unparalleled role in the existence of more than 59 chess schools in the country to date.
Then the film was shown. The film reflects Faig Hasanov's childhood years, the emergence of his interest in chess, his long-term refereeing activities, participation in international tournaments, and his indispensable role in the development of Azerbaijani chess.
After the screening of the film, a video was presented reflecting the congratulations addressed by the world's star chess players on the occasion of Faig Hasanov's 85th anniversary.
F. Hasanov emphasized that Azerbaijani chess is known in the world as a country with a strong school and rich traditions. He said that 2025 was a productive year for the country's chess. F. Hasanov said that the women's and men's teams were remembered this year with great achievements. He highly appreciated the performance of the female chess player Ulviyya Fataliyeva, who became both European and world champion, and wished her continued success.
