The participants of the XI Vugar Hashimov Memorial to be held in Khankendi have been announced.
Idman.Biz reports that six chess players will compete in rapid and blitz competitions at the tournament organized by the Vugar Hashimov Chess Foundation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
The intellectuals Yan Nepomniachtchi (FIDE), Amin Tabatabaei (Iran), Vladimir Fedoseev (Slovenia), Nodirbek Yakubboev (Uzbekistan), Rauf Mammadov, and Aydin Suleymanli will test their strength in two rounds.
It should be noted that the Memorial, which will be held from December 9 to 11, was first organized in 2014. Since 2023, the tournament has received the status of a qualifying stage for the FIDE World Championship.
