The opening ceremony of the qualifying match for the World Championship between the women's chess teams of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan took place in Baku.
According to "Report", the event began with the national anthems of both countries being played.
Then, the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov delivered an opening speech, wishing the participants success. He noted that Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan are friendly and brotherly countries and expressed his pleasure to participate in this meeting.
Next, the Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation Faig Hasanov spoke. At the same time, F. Hasanov, who is the chief judge of the competition, emphasized that they will witness interesting games.
Then, F. Gayibov, who made the first move, opened the meeting.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijani national team is playing in the match with the following lineup: Gunay Mammadzada, Gulnar Mammadova, Khanim Balajayeva, Govhar Beydullayeva and Ulviyya Fataliyeva. The captain of the team is European champion Gadir Huseynov.
The World Championship will be held in Linares, Spain, on November 18-23.
