The national rapid and blitz chess championship among men and women has started, jointly organized by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation (ACF) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Sport24.az reports that Ilaha Gadimova, Secretary General of ACF, wished success to the participants at the opening ceremony.
The national rapid and blitz championship among men and women consists of 9 rounds according to the Swiss system based on the "FIDE (International Chess Federation) Game Rules."
The prize fund of the national championship among men and women is 10,000 manats. 32 chess players compete in the men's competition, and 20 in the women's competition. The chief arbiter of the Azerbaijan championship is Lutfiyar Rustamov.
It should be noted that the chess players who will take the first three places in the championship will be sent to the world championship by the ACF.
