Azerbaijani grandmasters Muhammad Muradli and Aydin Suleymanli continue to follow the leaders at the "Baku Open" chess festival.
Idman.biz reports that in the VII round of the competition, Muradli and Suleymanli won against Roman Shogdzhiev (FIDE) and Anis Mohammed (India), respectively.
As a result, Muhammad and Aydin scored five points each and occupy 3rd and 4th places. It should be noted that although Suleymanli did not start the tournament very well, drawing in many games, he has now improved the situation by winning consecutive victories. Muradli is also stringing together victories after two consecutive defeats.
In the eighth round, our two chess players will test their strength in a personal meeting.
From Azerbaijani representatives, Nijat Abasov (13th place), Ahmad Ahmadzade (15th), Misratdin Iskandarov (8th), Read Samadov (12th), Khazar Babazade (5th), Murad Ibrahimli (6th) and Khagan Ahmadov (17th) scored 4.5 points each.
It should be noted that Aleksandar Inđić (Serbia) is still leading the main tournament of the festival with six points. Baadur Jobava (Georgia) is half a point behind him.
